Rachael Pollack is a business leader with a diverse background in business consulting, human centered design, user research, and program and people management. Known for her unwavering commitment and collaborative spirit, Rachael excels at leading teams that tackle challenges head-on, providing innovative solutions that bring clarity to complex systems.
Currently, Rachael serves as the Director of Operations at Steampunk overseeing the delivery of US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Human Resource Management (HRM) projects. Her passion lies in discovering and implementing technical approaches to support CBP’s crucial mission.
Before joining Steampunk, Rachael made her mark at a human-centered design and development agency, where she excelled in solving technical problems with a distinct focus on human-centered solutions. Her approach involved addressing business requirements while incorporating end-user needs. This resulted in the delivery of technical solutions aligned with organizational missions and designed for optimal usability and user adoption.
Outside of work, Rachael, along with her husband and two sons, enjoys exploring what Washington, D.C has to offer. She’s an avid reader and novice crafter. She loves sharing reading recommendations and her ever-growing book count for the year—just ask.

As a classically trained violinist creating modern music, Kishi Bashi’s innovative approach aligns seamlessly with Steampunk’s ethos of transforming traditional concepts into contemporary solutions.
In live performances, Kishi Bashi constructs songs on a looping machine – a fusion of technology and design. His electrifying stage presence matches the magic of in-person collaboration we experience at Steampunk, highlighting the unique essence that sets us apart.
