VP, Accounting & Contoller

Penney Jensen is an accountant with over 35 years of experience leading accounting departments and ensuring compliance with company accounting policies, state and Federal tax laws, payroll tax laws, 401k administration, GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) for financial statement preparation, government contracting regulations, and banking requirements. 

Penney started her career in public accounting working as a Certified Public Accountant in a regional accounting firm in Washington, D.C. for ten years. During this time Penny acquired an abundance of knowledge on taxes and audit compliance, as well as insight into a variety of different types of companies. After transitioning to the private sector, Penney worked for several companies as a Controller. In 2003, Penny provided accounting services for Steampunk’s predecessor company, Strategic Enterprise Solutions,  during their launch and would later join the company full-time in 2009. Penney holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park. She has four adult children and lives in Southern Maryland with her husband.
